In the summer of 2023, this exhibition took place at Campus Stadswaag and ArtTelex, presenting a collection of ceramic works inspired by an imagined deep-sea world. The medium ceramics was used to explore themes of mystery and the unknown, drawing inspiration from ocean depths and the unique creatures that inhabit them.

The process of working with clay offered a way to bring these ideas to life in a physical form. Unable to fully capture her vision through digital means, the artist turned to ceramics, where the unpredictability of the medium became part of the creative journey. Sculpting and firing clay allowed shapes to transform and glazes to take on unexpected qualities, giving each piece a unique character. The results reflected her fascination with imagined life forms and a process rooted in experimentation.

By creating these sculptures, the artist invites viewers into a world shaped by chance and spontaneity, moving away from polished precision and embracing a more natural development. The exhibition is both a reflection on the ocean’s mysteries and an exploration of new possibilities within ceramic art.

During To Be Antwerp 2023, the creatures got a chance to resurface at the N.Vrouyr store in Antwerp.
